Gratitude

The real gift of gratitude is that the more grateful you are,

the more present you become.

~Robert Holden

Have you ever tried a Gratitude Journal? It's a simple way to start or end your day by making a list of things for which you're grateful.

I first started one about 5 years ago at the suggestion of a good friend.

It made a very difficult transition much easier because I was conscious of the ways in which God was shining light and hope into my situation.

It's been a wonderful practice to return to in times of relative ease, as well.

It has such a gentle way of bringing to the forefront those things most important to my life.

Check out my tips in the next column and then let me know how a Gratitude journal works in your life!

A pretty journal is a special touch, but not necessary to get started.

Just find a blank piece of paper, a new Word document on your computer,

the notes section of your phone, or a Facebook post to share with friends.

Think for a few moments about the events of the day.

Jot down a list of 3-5 items.

Keep in mind, however, that the more specific the thanks, the more meaningful it will be to you. So, rather than writing down, "A roof over my head." You may choose to think about a special area of your home or something touching that has happened in your home that day.
