For everything there is a season...

A time to be busy, and a time to rest.

I've been pushing pretty hard since school started, and especially the last month or so. In a period of 8 days, I gave a presentation at a state-wide conference, ran a half-marathon for the first time, and hosted my very first Goals Workshop. Whew! It was intense!!

Anyone else have times that look like this??!!

You know, when everything seems to happen at once? Maybe you've done it to yourself, maybe the stars lined up "just so," or maybe the deadlines were placed upon you by an outside source.

We've all been there. But, how do you choose to acknowledge the toll on your body and find harmony again?

Making the time...

As this well known verse from the Old Testament reminds us, there is a time for everything. I want to present to you that there WILL be times when you are busy, intentionally or otherwise, but there also MUST be times when you rest.

A couple's retreat!

Knowing that this fall would be a busy time for us both, Mike and I decided to set aside a few days to get away--just the two of us. We started planning in July or August for the few days we would get away this past week.

It takes a lot to arrange three children and to find places in our budget to spend on ourselves!

(Forgive the background on this picture....but I love those content, relaxed, in-love faces!!)

While a couple's retreat is a wonderful way to rest and rejuvenate after a busy season, there are many ways you can find respite in your busy life that take a lot less planning!

  • Yoga/Meditation

  • Afternoon hike

  • Cup of tea and a good book

  • 8-10 solid hours of sleep

  • Horseback riding

  • Art session

  • Professional Massage

What can you work into your schedule today, this week, this month, and this season to give your mind and body the rest that it needs?

And on the seventh day God finished the work that he had done,

and he rested on the seventh day from all the work that he had done.
